Business Continuity Manager


Visma IT & Communications is looking for a passionate Business Continuity Manager.

Lead the company’s Business Continuity Program by planning, preparing, testing, and executing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.  These plans are based on vital business processes along with their supporting IT systems.  In developing and implementing plans, the primary focus of this person is the collaboration with team members to take other disciplines such as enterprise architecture, business processes, standards processes, documentation requirements, IT infrastructure, and software tools into consideration. 

This role will also facilitate the business continuity planning process with each business unit.   Primary responsibilities will include all aspects of Business Continuity from assessing risk and gaps, to business impact analysis, remediation and testing. The Business Continuity Manager leads complex projects involving cross functional areas to meet planning goals.



  • Provide subject matter expertise on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery including the failover of systems 

  • Provide strategic and tactical plans and budgets for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

  • Develop Disaster Recovery policies, plans, and procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements 

  • Coordinate with business units on the development and maintenance of business continuity and crisis plans, ensuring that plans satisfy business, legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee company and business unit level business impact analyses and assist business units in determining critical processes, recovery times and recovery point objectives and resource requirements for a successful recovery in the event of a business disruption.
    Maintain Mission Essential and Mission Support designated systems in Business Continuity readiness status 

  • Plan, prepare, and support all Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery activities 

  • Perform testing and system recovery on all plans, ensuring that measurements tools are in place to evaluate effectiveness of program outcomes. 

  • Interprets internal policies and government regulations as they relate to programs.

  • Provide executive management with a written report following all Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, fail over, and system recovery tests 

  • Work with team members to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, resolve issues, and promote team services and capabilities 

  • Develop and implement employee Business Continuity/Crisis Management awareness programs.

  • Provide on-call support at any time in the event of an incident

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree in the business application of technical systems is a preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree in a related field is a plus 

  • 3+ years of experience creating, supporting, or executing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and operations 


Required Skills: 

  • Ability to initiate and sustain trusted senior-level sponsor relationships 

  • Ability to drive project timelines to completion with a cross-functional team 

  • Ability to develop and present content in a concise, professional manner

  • Strong computer, analytical, and research skills 

  • The ability to work in and navigate a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.

  • Experience driving continuous improvement in a major corporate setting


Desired Skills: 

  • Professional certifications and credentials desired, such as CBCP, CEM, Lean Six Sigma, PMP and or ITIL

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Broad understanding of government mandates related to business and technology management 

  • Commitment to excellence and to meeting deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including executives, managers, developers, and subject matter experts 

  • Ability to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms 

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills 

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm 

  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance 

  • Excellent at multitasking and working well under pressure
