Technical Writer

We are looking for a talented and passionate Technical Writer to join our Accounting Core team and who wants to be involved and further consolidate the cloud solution of the future,! 

About the role

As a Technical Writer, and a team member in Accounting Core team, you will be a part of our competent and forward-looking team and work in close collaboration with technical writers in Denmark, Finland, Sweden and the Netherlands.  You will be placed in Oslo together with some of those team members. You will be part of an extremely skilled, agile and international team with resources currently  in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Romania (with plans to extend to more locations in the near future).  We use tools from MadCap Software to develop our user documentation. These are dynamic tools with all opportunities to be effective and make good looking documents for our readers.  The technical writers also have the possibility to cooperate with developers to optimise their tools. 

In your role as a Technical writer you will be the person taking complex information, finding a way to  communicate it clearly, concisely and accurately to our users in all markets. You will be the key link between product owners, software developers and the end users. You will be responsible for user documentation, user interface labelling, and translations into the Norwegian language. All our technical writers develop and maintain master user documentation and interface labelling in English, and translate this to all markets Visma develops products for. is one of the most modern and complete business solutions in the cloud. Working tasks

  • Responsible for describing processes and workflows for the Accounting Core modules for our customers in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

  • Plan for, create and maintain content in the form of interface texts, written help, release notes and get started guides and ensure they follow the documentation guidelines in English.

  • Translating user interface texts from English to Norwegian and coordinating translation tasks across all ERP teams.

  • Edit and proofread documents written by others.

  • Ensure high and accurate quality of user documentation and user interface labels.

  • Establish and maintain terminology lists.

  • Contribute to improving processes and technical solutions for developing, maintaining user documentation and translation management.

  • Work in close collaboration with the Product/Service owners, the Developers and the Business analysts.

  • Communicate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders for information gathering and fact-checking.

  • Contribute (or take charge of) improving the documentation guidelines.

  • Support multiple other services with Norwegian translations.

  • Opportunity to contribute with creating and maintaining documentation for multiple other services.

We believe that you are/have

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or languages ​​or that you have acquired similar knowledge through work experience.

  • A translator or a technical writer by profession.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn financial and logistics terms and their meaning.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills. 

  • Strong knowledge of both Norwegian and English.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn Flare and Lingo from MadCap Software.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn CrowdIn.

  • It is a benefit if you are used to working in a source control environment like Git or TFS.

  • Knowledge or willingness to understand the users’ behavior.

  • Ability to build domain knowledge fast.

  • You are a person who really enjoys working in a team.

  • You push for progress and continuous improvements.

  • You can easily create an overall picture of complex contexts and can then simplify and explain these to others.

  • You can adapt your way of formulating yourself depending on what level the target group is at.

  • You are self-driven and take initiative without waiting for tasks to be assigned.
